You will build the core of a self-hostable auth platform that developers run themselves — sessions, tokens, MFA, organizations and RBAC — and own features end to end, from the Postgres schema to the React SDK a customer drops into their app. This is early: what you ship this quarter is what the product is.
What you will do
Design and ship auth primitives across the stack — issuance, session handling, MFA, passkeys, RBAC
Own features from database schema through API to the typed SDKs developers integrate against
Keep the self-hosted path first-class: every instance gets the same security posture on day one
Write the reference docs alongside the code, so integrating Atlas needs no support ticket
Set the engineering bar early — testing, review and the shape of the codebase others will build on
What we need
You have shipped and operated production systems, and are comfortable owning something end to end
You are strong in TypeScript and Node, and unbothered by SQL and the database underneath
You have worked on auth, security or developer infrastructure, or are clearly hungry to
You write well enough that your docs need no editing
You are happy in the ambiguity of an early team, choosing what to build as much as how
Nice to have
These are genuinely optional.
Experience with OIDC, OAuth2, SAML or WebAuthn
You have built or maintained an SDK other developers depended on
You have run infrastructure customers self-host
